Well, I am still coming down off my Lost high- series finale just ended and in true Lost fashion, I am thinking like a son of a bitch. I feel sad, now that it's over. It's the first television show I really involved myself with..never missed an episode...glued to the sofa every Wednesday until they changed it to Thursday and finally Tuesday...I squealed like a little fangirl when we first saw Josh Holloway and his "Sawyer Angry Eyes". And I cried...mm..just about near the end of every episode. For 6 years, I have been invested in this show...I've gotten into some WONDERFUL discussions that really make you think, and research, and I've met some really great people, and I am totally sad to see it end.
That being said, let's move on to Michael Giacchino..THE COMPOSER OF THE WEEK!
My top two musical compositions of Giacchino are Lost of course, which is why I chose him this week, and The Disney Pixar flicks: UP, Ratatouille and The Incredibles.
Any Lostie can tell you, that the music in Lost is *the* emotional center of the show. Giacchino's use of the piano and oddball instruments (made from pieces of the plane crash set..or so I'fve heard..), give Lost a unique running score that ties with the eccentric writing style of Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. If there is one thing that remains constant in this show, is the damn music!
Here for your listening pleasure! :)

There's been a few times where the music alone has gotten to me. :) I will miss this music invading my televion on a weekly basis. Now excuse me while I search for it on iTunes.
Excellent. Found it. :D So, where was I? Ah, right. The music.
Michael Giacchino also does a lot of music for the Disney/Pixar films.
I LOVED the music for UP. The whole 1920's feel, and of course, that damned Piano. For me, that is his secret weapon. His piano work has often brought me to tears..none moreso than UP.
Carl and Ellie's theme - Married Life
For The Incredibles, the Jazz feel really sparked up the vibe of this movie. It reminds me of an old spy film. I admit, I was waiting for Maxwell Smart to pop up and help save the day! Great fun to drive to, this one.
The Incredibles
I look forward to hearing many more movie/television scores from Giacchino...he posesses the musical genius to engage his listeners, and I love going on his adventures!
