You know. I am proud to call myself a Caps fan. We're loud, raucous, and love cheering for our team- especially this season. And I was really proud reading that instead of turning inward and giving Montreal the same courtesy they showed us by booing our National Anthem, you sang with it warmly, and that is awesome. But after reading some of the insane comments after Friday's game, I'm starting to want to dissassociate. Not with the team, but with some of you.
And the writer in me is calling to stir up some controversy, so here we go.
I am tired of reading your ill planned, immature comments on the internet and your lack of understanding the game that drives them. Look, I get it. The Game on Friday was less than stellar, frustrating as hell, especially when we know they've got the talent chops...but come on! The Caps have had an AMAZING run this year. We've broken a bunch of records, won the President's Trophy and dominated much of the league in the regular season.
But let's look at Montreal this season, shall we?
Game #1 Score... Capitals 2 Montreal 3
Game #2 Score... Capitals 4 Montreal 3
Game #3 Score... Capitals 4 Montreal 2
Game #4 Score... Capitals 5 Montreal 6 (Overtime)
And by the way...that 5 - 6 Overtime loss was ALSO the loss that ENDED OUR 14 GAME WIN STREAK. With the exception of Game 3 up there, they have played us within one goal every game this season, and they have played us hard. Oh, and the only reason it resulted in a 4-2 loss was because of an empty netter.
So if you honestly and truly thought that this series would be easy, then you didn't do your homework. Let Boudreau worry about who he needs to discipline and how he should be doing it. And if you were the one I read about that demanded to fire Coach Boudreau, get out of my Franchise.
