An Open Letter to America

If September 11, 2001 taught me anything when I was an impressionable Freshman in College, was that in the face of tragedy our country would unite in such a way that before this day, I would have laughed in your face.

On this day we cried together, mourned together, feared together, angered together, united together.

It was a total kumbaya moment in a horrific way.

Red, White and Blue was displayed proudly EVERYWHERE.  Cars, buildings, clothing, billboards, grafitti, any and all things impressional bore them.  Americans became one. Your neighbor was your friend- reguardless of where they came from.

For awhile, we were all the same color- American.

In 2010, we've forgotten everything.  We are at war with each other, we burn books, we turn our backs.

This day 9 years ago forced people to realize we were and are not invincible, it forced us to realize that some in the outside world hated us, and it forced us to PAY ATTENTION.

I beg anyone reading this to REMEMBER how on the night of Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, we lit candles of rememberance, of honor, of patriotism.  Remember that we are ALL responsible for upholding the duties of Americans, and to not forget the sacrifice of those who did not ask to give their lives in an act of terrorism, and to uphold the memories of those generous few that ran INTO the buildings, to save the lives of those running out.

Be Proud of who you are, and where you came from.  Be proud of a country that allows you to be individuals, speak your mind, pray where and when you want, and uphold your heritage.

We are The United States of America.  We will not die.
