Of snow and Nicklas Backstrom...

As I sit here writing this, the news is predicting we are about to get one of the most historical amounts of snow this little old town of D.C. has seen in a very long time..and I LOVE IT!  I'm fairly certain I am the only one in my group of friends... :D
I don't know what it is about snow and the possiblity of being snowed in that appeals to me.  Maybe because as a kid it meant free days off (and when I was a kid, those days were forgotten..not added on to the end of the school year..) and DAYS of playing outside and doing all the things kids should do in the snow.  The best part about our neighborhood when I was a kid was that we never got plowed out.  Oh yeah!  We would sometimes go 3 days with no plow, which made for the best possible sledding expierience- ever.  It was extremely epic on my circle.

The day would go as follows.  Myself and my circle hooligans would start our day around 11 a.m., because you know, you have to sleep in on a freebee no school day.  It's the law.  We would sled on the hill across the street that was our own private sledding mecca, riddled with obstacles like the sewer lid at the bottom, or if you were really lucky, the creek that just happened to have a small net of trees to save you from impending doom.  When that got old we would roam around the neighborhood testing out the other hills that weren't ever as good as the creek hill, but we still needed to try them out.

In the "Blizzard of 96" I can remember starting at the top of the circle, sledding in the street because it took nearly 4 days to shovel out, hop the neighbors driveway and continue down Epic Hill.  Perfect.

When we were nearly exhausted by 3 pm we would typically conviene in my house, because no one else's parents wanted to deal with a bunch of 13 year olds, and proceed to consume all of the hot chocolate.  (My dad later became wiser and would buy multiple boxes.)  and finish the day playing Super Nintendo's version of Zelda. <3

I always associated snow with the carefree days, so in turn when the weatherpeople announce snowfall, I get all giddy.  Which is why I am stoked for tomorrow!! :D  I will update once we determine just how historic this snowfall is. :)

On to Nicklas Backstrom.  My sister was extremely lucky working at her tanning salon this afternoon, as a lady came into the store selling framed art and my sister purchased for me a matted and framed, liscened by NHL photo of nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals.  It is so preeetty, I had to share with you, my blog-ees. :D

So that is all for now, my pets, and I will talk at you soon!!! :)
